The West 5th Weekender No. 11
Emily Deisler
Happy Sunday, friend!
Birthday edition!
I turned 35 this week, which feels like a milestone. Not old, but perhaps no longer a spring chicken. More of a cute porch goose stage.
And honestly? I like 35. I’ve loved my thirties. I know myself better, I like what I like, I’m a better hype girl for myself and others, and I’m perfectly content being a millennial who gets overly excited about things like a good color palette and tiny vintage home magnets.
I also felt very spoiled this week, which is a rare treat in this phase of life. There was brunch and antiquing with a bestie, drawings from my kids, sleeves of Oreos (they know me), an ice cream date with my family, and a lovely weekend of more desserts and family time.
So in honor of another trip around the sun, this Weekender is getting a little birthday treatment. I made us all a birthday card!

BIRTHDAY FAVORITES
A few of my favorite things at 35. I’m limiting myself to 12 because, given the opportunity, I could spend three business days creating a highly categorized guide. In no sensible order:
Organic Sumatra Coffee from Trader Joe’s. My morning coffee of choice. Nutty and rich.
A three-day weekend in NYC. Cures all.
This navy watercolor paint. One of my absolute favorite colors to use.
The Parent Trap and You’ve Got Mail. Two of the best fashion movies ever made. I will not be taking questions.
This quilt. Currently fueling my desire to redo our bedroom.
This wave spray. Natural hold without making my hair feel crunchy.
Exfoliating Skin Polish. I use it with cleanser twice a week. Game changer.
Real Food Dietitians + Downshiftology. My go-to food blogs when I want to cook something healthy.
This lip oil.
This artist. Her work is inspiring.
These huggie earrings. My sensitive ears thank them for their service.
Coffee from an aluminum thermos should be a crime. You can pry my ceramic mug from my toasty hands.
